About Us
the story of how three friends became business partners in a small Texas town.
In the fall of 2011, three friends got the idea to get into the cigar business. After considering locations in San Marcos, we decided that New Braunfels would be a more suitable location. A market survey indicated that the Gruene area, in particular, offered the most desirable location and opportunity.
After a business strategy session (involving lots of cigars and adult beverages) plans were placed on paper, a business entity formed, and we were on our way to New Braunfels.
With the support of our spouses, The Republic Cigar opened on December 5th, 2012. Ten years later, our location has greatly expanded, and the size of our humidor has tripled.
The “Original Three” are still great friends who continue to thrive in Gruene. Our growth in huge part to our great patrons, whom we affectionately refer to as Brothers and Sisters of the Leaf.
